Adage doesn't collect personal data. There's no account to create, no analytics running in the background, and no tracking of any kind. Everything the app remembers stays on your device. The rest of this page is the detail behind that promise.
Adage is made by Wintr Studio, a small independent app studio based in the Netherlands. For the parts of EU law that need someone to be responsible for your data — the "data controller" — that's us.
You can reach us any time at adage@wintr.studio. If you ever need our formal registration or postal details for a legal request, just ask and we'll provide them.
Adage keeps a little bit of state so it can do its job — which proverbs you've seen, which you've saved, your language choice and your settings. All of it lives locally on your device, in the app's own storage. We can't see it, and it never reaches us.
Because it stays on your device, this information isn't personal data that we process. If you delete Adage, it goes with the app. There's no copy anywhere else, because it was never sent anywhere else.
From the app itself: nothing. No name, no email, no device identifiers, no advertising IDs, no usage analytics, no location, no crash data tied to you. We've deliberately built Adage so there's nothing to collect in the first place.
wintr.studio sets no tracking or advertising cookies and runs no analytics. Like almost every website, our host may keep short-lived server logs (for example IP addresses) to keep the site secure and online; these are used only for that purpose and aren't combined with anything else or used to identify you.
When you send us a message, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to read and reply — nothing else, and never for marketing. Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We keep the correspondence only as long as it's useful, then delete it.
Adage is distributed through Apple's App Store. When you download an app, Apple handles that transaction and may collect data such as your Apple ID and aggregate download statistics under their own privacy policy — we don't receive any of it, and any figures we ever see are anonymous and grouped. There are no other third-party SDKs, analytics tools or ad networks in the app, and no processors acting on our behalf.
Your app data never leaves your device, so there are no international transfers to worry about. Email you send us is handled by our mail provider; where that involves processing outside the European Economic Area, it's covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Emails are kept only as long as we need them to help you, and then deleted. We don't build profiles or archives of users, because we don't have any users to profile.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw any consent. Because Adage holds nothing about you beyond an email you might send us, there's usually very little for us to act on — but you're welcome to exercise any of these rights at any time.
Just email adage@wintr.studio and we'll respond within 30 days, free of charge.
Adage is suitable for all ages, but it isn't aimed at children specifically. Since the app collects no personal data at all, we don't knowingly hold information about anyone — children included — and there's nothing that would require parental consent under the GDPR.
If you think we've handled your data wrongly, we'd like the chance to put it right — so please email us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. In the Netherlands that's the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl); elsewhere in the EU, your local authority.
If a future version of Adage ever needs to handle data differently, we'll update this page and change the date at the top before that version ships. We don't expect that to happen — but if it does, you'll be able to read about it here first.
